“ In our country art education is taken as a time pass activity where kids don’t learn anything but just have good time but it is not true” says director Anupam Dixit “ Art has far reaching effects on a child’s overall development. Art makes kids smarter. For kids it is highly enjoyable activity and for teachers its great tool. Kids ready to paint, paste, create, play Music and dance etc so why not use this medium to make their studies more enjoyable and understandable. But you can’t do this by teaching them how to make an apple, chair table and scenery of a house, mountains and flowers.
I have seen in various painting competition that whatever the subject is given to them children make just the same painting of a house, boat, mountains and rising sun. Our education system has made this tool like another subject which is associated to grades, exams and rote knowledge. It takes lots of efforts to select and develop classroom activities, integrating school curriculum and Art and implement them successfully in the classroom and at Artworx we have developed such activities.
These lessons not only improve general art skills on one hand but also enhance imagination, expression and general level of awareness of the child on the other. Researchers have come up with the fact that this kind of art education improves a kid’s academic performance in maths, science and language. Those kids who were exposed to professional Art education during their school years were better in maths, language and science.
Our society is changing very fast and globalisation is posing new challenges in academic fields, workplace and in society hence need for suitable education and supportive system arises. Being an educator I decided to fill the gap between the long awaited need for such type of education centre where kids can have most modern curriculum in ART. We have integrated ART with Maths, Science and Language successfully in our lesson plans.
